What is a copyedit?

Copyediting focuses on the more technical aspects of writing, including but not limited to:

·         Grammar, punctuation, and spelling

·         Watching for sentence flow, including reptition, word choice, and clarity of prose

·         Stylistic consistency–serial commas, abbreviations, numbers, etc.

·         Cross-referencing and basic fact-checking

What needs a copyedit?

·        All types of books, all genres (from fiction to technical manuals) and all formats (traditionally bound books, ebooks)

·         Brochures, pamphlets, information distribution material

·         Websites and blogs

·         Newspapers, magazines, catalogues

·         Marketing materials, ads, signs
